TITLE: BUS AIDE
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION
JOB GOAL: TO ASSIST IN PROVIDING SAFE TRANSPORTATION SO THAT STUDENTS MAY ENJOY THE FULLEST POSSIBLE ADVANTAGE FROM THE DISTRICTS PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS.
Qualifications
- The bus aide will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
- Will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
- The aides time schedule will be assigned by the Director of Transportation.
Performance Responsibilities
- Assists the bus driver in maintaining good conduct on the bus.
- Assumes the responsibility of seeing that children remain in their seats.
- Assures that students get on and off the bus in a safe, orderly fashion.
- Provides mild supervision over the children who misbehave, reporting serious offenses to bus drive or the child's teacher.
- Collects and turns over to the school staff those personal items left on the bus by students.
- Any other duties assigned by the Director of Transportation.
- Must be physically able to assist or remove students from the bus in case of emergency.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
- Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
- Must be able to physical assist or remove students from the bus in case of an emergency.
- The employee must lift up to 40lbs. and or push/pull up to 100 lbs. such as student equipment and wheelchairs.
- Any other duties assigned by the administrator.
