    Description

    Primary Job Function:

    Collaborate with the bus driver to provide students safe transportation to school and school events.

    Maintain order among students on a school bus. Duties include helping students safely board and

    exit and communicating behavioral problems. May perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and

    assist in emergency evacuations.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency (GED)
    • Must be available for job related training
    • Ability to work with challenging students
    • Professional in appearance and demeanor
    • Prior experience working with children as your primary job function
    • Knowledge of Chrome book preferred

    Duties

    • Work cooperatively with the bus driver to supervise the behavior of students on the bus.
    • Assist students as needed while loading and unloading the bus, between school and bus, across streets and at locations where transfers are made. Assist bus driver with referrals and attend disciplinary hearing as needed. Assist students with health problems.
    • Knowledge in radio use, bus equipment and appropriate procedures in case of emergency.
    • Must be able to operate bus lift if necessary and secure wheelchairs into appropriate hookups.
    • Ability to maneuver students in wheelchairs.
    • Ability to lift children into/out of car seats and secure properly in bus seat.
    • Be familiar with the use of braces, crutches, walkers, etc. Ability to learn procedures for care of medically-fragile students (pupils with tracheotomy tubes, seizures, oxygen requirements, etc). Ability to learn to communicate with non-verbal students.
