CLASSIFICATION VACANCY: Bus Driver

INITIAL ASSIGNMENT: Transportation

ANTICIPATED HOURS: To be determined

SHIFT: Monday through Friday

STARTING SALARY: $27.40-$28.17

BENEFITS: Medical, Prescription, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance

A Commercial Driver's License is preferred but not required, as the District will train the selected candidates.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • State of Ohio Commercial Driver''s License with School Bus Endorsement (preferred)
  • State Department of Education Basic School Bus Driver Education Program (preferred)
  • Must be insurable
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively with others
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Practical, active listening skills
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Basic first-aid procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant Ohio laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of traffic laws
  • Ability to listen for mechanical defects, view the engine compartment for defects, and distinguish the color of lights
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings, and labels
  • Ability to handle emergencies
  • Ability to interpret gauges and dipsticks for oil and transmission
