JOB
PURPOSE
SUMMARY:
The
Bus
Driver
Coordinator
supports
the
daily
operations
and
safety
of
the
district's
transportation
department
by
assisting
with
driver
training,
monitoring
performance,
and
ensuring
compliance
with
all
district,
state,
and
federal
transportation
guidelines.
This
role
is
responsible
for
providing
hands-on
support
to
drivers
and
bus
attendants,
coordinating
training
efforts,
and
promoting
a
culture
of
safety
and
professionalism.
KEY
FUNCTIONS,
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES,
AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student
Transportation
and
Safety
Oversight:
1.
Identify
and
correct
unsafe
conditions
in
the
work
area
that
may
pose
a
risk
of
accidents,
and
promptly
report
any
unresolved
safety
concerns
to
a
supervisor.
2.
Attend
and
successfully
complete
all
required
training
programs
while
maintaining
current
certifications
and
licenses.
3.
Assist
in
the
training
and
re-training
of
new
and
existing
bus
drivers
and
bus
attendants
in
alignment
with
district
training
materials
and
guidelines,
including
classroom
instruction
and
monthly
in-service
sessions.
4.
Provide
on-the-route
training
for
new
drivers,
covering
route
directions,
student
management,
and
key
district
facility
locations.
5.
Support
the
evaluation
process
for
bus
drivers
and
attendants
by
providing
input
and
observational
feedback.
6.
Ensure
compliance
with
district
guidelines
for
the
proper
use
of
smart
tablet
software.
7.
Attend
all
required
in-service
training
sessions
and
monthly
departmental
meetings.
8.
Uphold
all
district
policies
as
outlined
in
the
District
Transportation
Handbook.
9.
Serve
as
an
advisor
to
an
assigned
group
of
drivers,
monitoring
performance
and
reporting
concerns
to
the
Operations
Supervisor.
10.
Coordinate,
plan,
and
facilitate
Entry-Level
Driver
Training
(ELDT)
programs
in
accordance
with
district
and
state
requirements.
11.
Assist
in
the
delivery
of
in-service
programs
to
ensure
school
bus
drivers
and
monitors
maintain
state
certification
compliance.
12.
Conduct
training
sessions
focused
on
safe
driving
practices
and
proper
work
procedures
as
required.
13.
Utilizes
two-way
radio
systems
effectively
and
in
accordance
with
departmental
communication
policies.
14.
Participates
in
ongoing
training
programs
and
maintains
all
required
certifications,
ensuring
compliance
with
District,
state,
and
federal
safety
standards.
15.
Perform
other
duties
as
assigned
by
the
Operations
Supervisors
or
Director
of
Transportation,
including
covering
additional
routes
when
necessary.

transportation
environment
for
all
passengers.
18.
Monitors
respective
work
activity
for
variances
and
anomalies.
19.
Identifies
and
timely
reports
any
known
or
suspected
compliance
issues
to
appropriate
personnel.

Assists
with
audits
and
the
preparation
for
audits,
whether
initiated
internally
or
externally,
as
assigned.
21.

EDUCATION,

GED
Six
months

experience
working
in

school

setting;

combination
of
education
and

experience

Commercial
Class
B
Driver's
License
with

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS
&
WORKING
CONDITIONS:
This
position
requires
frequent
seated
driving,
standing,
walking,
bending,
and
lifting,
with
occasional
kneeling,
reaching,
and
crouching
to
assist
students
and
operate
bus
equipment.
The
role
involves
lifting
and
securing
objects
weighing
up
to
100
lbs.,
such
as
wheelchairs,
safety
harnesses,
and
other
assistive
devices,
using
proper
techniques
and
equipment
to
prevent
injury.
Duties
require
assisting
students
with
disabilities
or
mobility
challenges,
including
securing
student
restraints
and
operating
specialized
equipment
like
wheelchair
lifts
and
safety
harnesses.
Work
is
conducted
primarily
on
buses
and
at
pickup
or
drop-off
locations,
often
in
varying
weather
conditions
(heat,
cold,
rain,
wind)
and
temperatures.
Drivers
must
manage
frequent
exposure
to
noise,
vibrations,
and
potential
distractions
within
the
bus
environment.
The
role
demands
sustained
physical
stamina,
focus,
and
emotional
resilience,
particularly
during
extended
shifts
or
emergencies.
Strict
adherence
to
safety
protocols,
including
the
proper
use
of
personal
protective
equipment
(PPE),
is
critical.
