Position Summary
Lakeland Regional High School is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team as a Bus Driver/Custodian! This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students while also taking pride in keeping our school facilities safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other school-related activities.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and all applicable NJ school bus regulations.
- Conduct required bus inspections and maintain necessary transportation records.
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for students while riding the bus.
- Keep the assigned school bus clean and sanitary.
- Perform custodial duties during non-driving hours, including cleaning classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, and maintain floors and other building surfaces.
- Empty trash and recycling and replenish custodial supplies.
- Assist with basic building maintenance and preventative maintenance.
- Help with building security and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for school activities, athletic events, meetings, and other district events.
- Assist with snow and ice removal, including shoveling, sweeping, and salting. Snow and ice removal is a mandatory responsibility of this position.
- Perform other transportation, custodial, and facilities duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid New Jersey CDL with all required school bus endorsements.
- Ability to meet all NJ and federal requirements for school bus drivers.
- Safe driving record and experience.
- Dependable, responsible, and safety-conscious.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to perform physical custodial and maintenance duties.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, and move equipment and supplies.
- NJ Black Seal Boiler Operator License preferred, but not required.
- Successful completion of all required background checks, physical examinations, training, and other employment clearances.
