Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated location. Responsibilities: 1. Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules. 2. Check bus for mechinical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs. 3. Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, body fluid kit, fire extingisher, and reflectors. 4. Keep assigned bus clean. 5. Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street. 6. Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations. 7. Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator. 8. Maintain seating charts for students. 9. Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses. 10. Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities (field trips). 11. Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports. 12. Complete monthly student count and mileage report. 13. Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office. 14. Maintain confidentiality Working Conditiions: Mental demands/physical demands/environmental factors 15. Maintain emotional control under stress 16. Climbs in and out of the bus 6-16 times per day. 17. Operates within the district in all temperature conditions. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot) and vehicle fumes. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Satisfactory driving record Wiling to complete reuirements for the follwoing if not previously satisfied Valid Texas commercial driver's license (Class B) Pass alcohol and drug test Satisfactory restults of fingerprinting and criminal history check. Satisfactory completion of a physical, bus driver safety course, and CPR/first aide training. Special Knowledge/Skills: Must be 121years of age Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to communicate effectively Knowledge of student discipline procedure Ability to manage student behavior Ability to operate bus
