Employment Factors

• 182 Day Contract • 12 Personal Leave Days • Daily Rate Based on Years of Experience • $86.41 - $91.66 • Bonus for new drivers after completion of 3 regular routes • Compensation based on length and time of route assigned is added to the base pay as follows: • $0.20 per mile • $0.03 per minute

SUMMARY

To provide safe and efficient transportation in which students can take full advantage of the instructional and extracurricular programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Obey all traffic laws and observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. • Maintain discipline while students are on bus. • Report undisciplined students to the proper authority. • Keep assigned bus clean. • Keep to assigned schedule. • Check bus before each operation for mechanical defects. • Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. • Discharge students only at authorized stops. • Exercise responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips. • Transport only authorized students. • Report all accidents and complete required reports. • Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus. • Assist students boarding or disembarking if necessary. • Inspect bus at the end of each route assignment to ensure no students remain on bus. • Participate in training programs as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Students

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate or equivalent • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age • Experience with passenger transportation and children strongly desired

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS

• Valid state issued Class B CDL with P & S endorsements • Assistance in obtaining certification is available

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos, instructions, and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Ability to operate a variety of transportation equipment • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form • Ability to work independently to function effectively in a multi-task environment and to interact positively with students and the public • Ability to maintain confidentiality about school and student business • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and community • Ability to maintain high attendance rate • Ability to perform duties with awareness of and compliance with related Board of School Trustees policies and state requirements
