Position Title - 5hr. Bus Driver

Job Description

a. Reports directly to the Superintendent and the Director of Transportation. b. Drive an assigned bus over an assigned route according to the designated time schedule. c. Be available to work as needed for extra or required evening and/or weekend athletic and field trips. d. Utilize the routing tablets and student ID badges to maintain accurate route attendance. e. Will comply with all Highway Department and traffic laws. f. Be certain no unauthorized passengers are transported on the school bus. g. Be responsible for driving the route according to the route sheet and tablet to ensure consistent stop times. h. Make a daily safety inspection and pre-trip as required by the Ohio Administrative Code Section 3301-83-11. i. Notify the Director of Transportation if any vehicle is missing any fire safety emergency or first aid equipment or supplies. j. Abstain from use of alcohol and other drugs, tobacco or tobacco products and improper language while driving the school bus and/or during working hours. k. Be responsible for keeping the Director of Transportation informed of gravel needs at turn around points. l. Report all needed bus repairs, shortages and/or other replacements to the Director of Transportation and to the person responsible for such repairs/replacements. m. Post student bus conduct rules in a place on the bus which is visible to all students. n. Maintain good conduct on the bus at all times, notifying the parents and school Principal in cases where the student does not accept correction or discipline using the approved Bus Conduct Report or by personal communication or telephone communication. Denial of bus privileges must come from the Principal or Superintendent. o. Be responsible for reminding students twice a year of expected student behavior and bus safety. p. Be responsible for conducting evacuation drills during each school year. Drills to be conducted on school property or in areas away from the highways with one drill to be conducted early in the school year. q. Assist the Director of Transportation as needed in creating and adjusting bus routes and stop locations each year. r. Be responsible for fueling the bus regularly as well as keeping accurate records of gallons consumed and miles driven. s. Be responsible for parking the bus in a designated area. t. Be responsible for keeping the interior of the bus clean at all times. The bus should be swept after each trip. u. Be responsible for keeping the exterior of the bus clean. A pressure washer can be available at the school weather permissible or you may take your bus to the Blue Beacon on your own time. v. Must submit to a criminal record check as required by law. w. Must have an OHID account and be enrolled in Rapback. x. Attend all contractually scheduled in-service and training. y. Be willing to cooperate in any transportation related matters of the district as identified by the Superintendent. z. Keep the Director of Transportation and Superintendent informed and up-to-date on all matters that should be brought to their attention. aa. School bus drivers responsible for an accident will require a hearing. bb. School bus drivers cited in court will require a hearing. cc. Bus drivers not complying with Ohio Pupil Transportation Laws and Regulations will be subject to suspension without pay.

Qualifications:

a. Be able to accept orders and directions from the Superintendent and the Director of Transportation. b. Must be over 21 years of age and in good health. c. Must pass an annual physical exam. d. Must possess an Ohio class B CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements as well as a valid Ohio Preservice Certificate. e. Must satisfactorily pass a driving performance test. f. Must clear a Criminal Records Check as required by law. Failure to provide proper information for such a check shall result in immediate termination of contract or shall be grounds for refusal to offer a contract. g. Must meet all other requirements of the Ohio Administrative Code and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
