EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following are typical duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks andor may perform similar related tasks not listed below.• Safely and effectively operates a school bus over designated routes as assigned in accordance with assigned time schedules• Operates the school bus within the rules and regulations set forth by the District State and the California Highway Patrol• Maintains order among students on the bus and while they are being picked up• Escorts students across streets when necessary• Complies with District policies regarding student discipline procedures and contact with parents and other citizens• Performs daily safety checks according to State regulations and reports immediately any and all safety repair needs to the Transportation Supervisor• Maintains the bus in a safe and clean operating condition• Maintains accurate and current daily transportation reports• Provides simple first-aid to injured or ill students when required• Transports students teachers and parent volunteers on field trips to various locations choosing the safest and most efficient routes to make schedule and departure times• Assists with transportation fee procedures• Performs other related work as requiredREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
