Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid Class E Driver s License. An Aptitude test will be given at the time of the application process. Candidates selected for employment will be placed in Apprentice status and must successfully complete the DTPW Bus Maintenance Apprentice Program. As a condition of participation in the DTPW Bus Maintenance Apprentice Program, selected candidates will be required to sign a Training Repayment Agreement Plan. Apprentices who successfully complete the program must remain employed with Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) in the Bus Maintenance Technician classification for a minimum of two (2) years following program completion. Apprentices who voluntarily separate from employment or transfer to another classification before fulfilling this commitment shall be required to reimburse the County for apprenticeship-related training costs in accordance with the terms of the signed agreement.
Recruitment Notes
Apprentices will be assigned to and may rotate among Department of Transportation and Public Works bus maintenance facilities throughout Miami-Dade County based on operational and training needs. Candidates must have reliable transportation to travel to assigned work locations. Work schedules may vary and may include weekends, holidays, and shift assignments.

This classification performs safety-sensitive functions and is subject to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
Proof of education and a valid Florida Class E Driver License must be presented at the time of application and are subject to verification.
