Bus Monitor
Hastings, NE | $15.50-$16.50/hr DOE | Part-Time | 9-Month Position
Looking for a rewarding job where you can make a difference in a child's day? We're hiring Bus Monitors to help provide a safe, positive and supportive transportation experience for students.
As a Bus Monitor, you'll work alongside the bus driver to ensure students travel safely to and from school while providing extra assistance to students who need it most. If you're patient, dependable and enjoy working with children, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll DoSupport Student Safety
Assist students as they board and exit the bus
Help maintain a safe, calm and orderly environment during transportation
Encourage students to remain seated and follow bus safety rules
Report disruptive behavior to school administrators
Assist with implementing student behavior plans
Provide Student Assistance
Help students in and out of child safety seats
Assist students using wheelchairs and safely operate the wheelchair lift
Provide assistance if a student becomes ill during transportation
Help with emergency bus evacuations when necessary
Support the overall safety and well-being of all passengers
Schedule
9-month school-year position with summers off
Hours vary based on bus routes
Early morning and afternoon shifts
Ideal for individuals seeking part-time work that follows the school calendar
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, climb bus stairs and assist students throughout the workday
Must maintain a neat and professional appearance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, reliability and the ability to maintain a safe, positive environment for students
