JOB TITLE Bus Route Driver TYPE OF POSITION Classified REPORTS TO Director of Transportation POSITION PURPOSE Transports students and at times related school personnel and performs other transportation related duties as follows

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

• Assists student and other passengers to enter and leave vehicle. • Makes overnight drives and extended trips requiring irregular hours as required. • Keeps vehicle clean, polished, and in operating condition. • Makes arrangements for needed service and mechanical repairs. • Maintains order and discipline among the children transported. • Operates the assigned bus on the scheduled routes on the time schedule fixed by the employer. • Fills the bus with fuel as authorized, checks and adds oil as needed, checks the lights, tires, and other parts of the bus on a regular basis to be sure they are in safe operating condition. • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS Six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School diploma. Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students and parents. Skills in human relations. Ability to plan and organize good work habits. Possess a valid state commercial drivers license. Perform the School Bus Driver performance standards for Wawasee Community School Corporation. Other qualifications that the School Board may require.
