A leading digital streaming network seeks a Business Affairs Consultant to lead the negotiation, structuring, and execution of development, licensing, and production agreements for the companys original series and negotiate complex entertainment deals, provide strategic business guidance, and support all aspects of original content development and production.
Business Affairs Consultant Responsibilities:
- Structure, negotiate, draft, and manage business affairs agreements related to the development, licensing, production, and distribution of the companys original series while providing strategic business counsel throughout the content lifecycle.
- Negotiate and coordinate above-the-line talent agreements, underlying rights agreements, pilot and series development documentation, and production contracts with affiliated and third-party studios while partnering with Legal on long-form agreements and standard terms.
- Collaborate with Creative, Production, Finance, Marketing, Communications, and Legal teams to review production budgets, resolve production-related issues, communicate key deal terms, and ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and implement internal business affairs policies, templates, approval processes, talent requirements, on-screen credits, exclusivity provisions, deliverables, advertising restrictions, and promotional obligations.
- Monitor entertainment industry trends, legal developments, and emerging technologies impacting content creation, production, licensing, and distribution while providing strategic recommendations to support business objectives.
Business Affairs Consultant Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience negotiating entertainment agreements at a streaming platform, television network, studio, production company, entertainment law firm, or equivalent organization.
- Bachelors degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Extensive experience negotiating development, licensing, production, talent, above-the-line, and underlying rights agreements for scripted television, streaming, or original content productions.
- Strong knowledge of entertainment business affairs, content development, production workflows, intellectual property rights, licensing, talent agreements, and production finance.
- Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
