Summary:
Goldbelt Apex is seeking motivated Business Analysts to serve as primary interfaces for stakeholder engagement in a complex federal data governance initiative. This role involves conducting recurring sessions with data owners, stewards, and subject matter experts; capturing and validating metadata (both technical and business context); and producing accurate, comprehensive documentation to support governance processes. Analysts will dedicate approximately 60% of time to embedded engagement activities and 40% to documentation, validation, and coordination tasks. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to federal data management efforts within a collaborative, high-retention organization dedicated to professional development and mission success. *This role is based in Falls Church, VA with possible telework.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
• Conduct in-person and virtual stakeholder sessions to elicit requirements, gather metadata, and validate data-related information. • Collaborate closely with data domain owners, stewards, and subject matter experts to ensure completeness and accuracy of captured metadata. • Document metadata elements, data flows, lineage, stewardship details, and associated governance attributes in accordance with established standards. • Perform real-time validation of gathered information during sessions and follow-up reviews. • Support iterative waves of work by applying lessons learned from prior engagements to improve efficiency and quality. • Contribute to governance workflows, including feedback collection for pilots, user acceptance testing, and process refinement. • Maintain detailed records of sessions, artifacts, and decisions using approved collaboration tools. • Escalate issues related to stakeholder availability, data access, or inconsistencies to Lead Business Analysts or leadership. • Ensure all activities comply with federal regulations, privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA), and security policies.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
Strong understanding of data governance principles, metadata management, and stewardship concepts. Proficiency in facilitating stakeholder sessions and translating business needs into structured data requirements. Excellent analytical skills for interpreting complex information and ensuring data accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication for documenting findings and engaging diverse audiences. Ability to manage time effectively between engagement activities and documentation tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification (preferred at time of hire; required within first year if not held). • 3-6 years of experience in business analysis, data stewardship, or related roles, including at least 2 years in federal, healthcare, or regulated environments. • Demonstrated ability to conduct stakeholder interviews, elicit requirements, and document metadata or data standards. • Active Secret security clearance (or eligibility) at the level required for federal access.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience supporting federal data governance initiatives or health IT environments. • Familiarity with data modeling, metadata standards, and quality assurance processes. • Prior work involving stakeholder feedback collection, pilot evaluations, or user acceptance testing.
Pay and Benefits
