Business Analyst - Business Analyst II

Location: Culver City, California (Onsite)

COMPENSATION: $30 - $40 HOURLY

Role Overview

This role is dedicated to leading the onboarding of forecasting models into a financial forecasting platform. The Business Analyst will act as the bridge between Finance stakeholders and engineering, translating finance reporting requirements and model logic into technical specifications, coordinating implementation, and owning user acceptance testing. The position involves producing documentation for each model build and establishing a repeatable model-onboarding framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and document finance reporting requirements from Finance stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications for implementation.
• Define data requirements and source-data contracts for each model, identifying and proposing solutions for gaps between model requirements and system capabilities.
• Wireframe and propose UI/UX for forecast adjustments to ensure users can execute necessary adjustments efficiently.
• Partner with engineering to design, build, test, and deploy Finance model updates.
• Define and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans to validate that system changes produce expected, financially-correct outputs.
• Document business rules, calculation logic, and data lineage for onboarded forecasting dimensions.
• Identify gaps in the platforms validation checks and work with Data Science and Data Engineering teams to close them.
• Trace metric discrepancies across reporting surfaces to their root causes.
• Own the engineering ticket queue from intake to closure, prioritizing work based on business priority in partnership with the Finance team.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 4 to 6 years as a Business or Systems Analyst in finance systems or enterprise planning tools. Direct experience translating business requirements into technical specifications for engineering teams. Demonstrated ability to assess existing business processes and design improved workflows, including wireframing and UI/UX proposals. Experience with UAT planning and execution.

Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, and scenario analysis. Working knowledge of SQL with the ability to query relational databases to validate data and trace lineage.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TM1, Planning Analytics, or Apliqo.
• Familiarity with ETL pipelines and data warehouse concepts.
• Familiarity with FP&A concepts such as forecasting, variance analysis, and dimensional modeling.
• Experience in media, streaming, or subscription business models.
