Business Analyst – IT Deployment Team

Overview:

84 Lumber is modernizing its store operations through a next-generation Point of Sale (POS) platform, and we are building the team to make it happen. The Business Analyst on the IT Deployment Team will play a central role in deploying, training, and supporting this platform across 84 Lumber’s store network. This is a hands-on role that combines technology, process improvement, and people — working directly with store teams to configure systems, train store staff on business applications, and ensure associates are confident with new tools from day one.

 

The business analyst will be the face of the rollout.  He or she will be the first point of contact in introducing the topic, training stores, and answering questions.

 

The Deployment Team’s mission is to own the full rollout lifecycle for the new POS platform and future applications built on it — from initial deployment through ongoing training, support, and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Organize and drive the end-to-end rollout of new POS technology to 84 Lumber store locations
• Build rollout plan and report on status and progress
• Work directly with store teams to map their physical warehouse layout and translate it into the visual POS system to optimize the receiving and order processing workflow
• Travel to stores as needed to conduct hands-on training sessions for associates and management on new POS interfaces and workflows
• Develop and maintain training materials, user guides, and process documentation for each platform deployment
• Train helpdesk on functionality and support.
• Provide post-deployment support to stores, troubleshooting issues and driving adoption
• Collect and document feedback from store teams to inform system improvements and future rollouts
• Collaborate with IT colleagues and vendor partners on configuration, testing, and quality assurance
• Support the rollout of future applications built on the same platform as the program expands

Qualifications:

• 2–5 years of experience in a business analyst, IT deployment, training, or related role
• Strong communication and facilitation skills — comfortable teaching technology to non-technical users in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to understand 84 Lumber physical operational workflows and translate them into software configurations
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and organizational skills, ability to maintain project plans and report progress.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30% of the time to store locations
• Experience in retail technology deployment, POS system rollouts, or similar enterprise application implementations is a plus
• Background in warehouse, inventory, or distribution operations is a plus
• Familiarity with change management and end-user adoption best practices
• Experience working in an 84 Lumber store or familiarity with 84 Lumber store and yard operations is a plus
