Job Description

Business Analyst
Business Analytics | Financial Services / Commercial Lending

Location: Sioux Falls, SD

About the Role
Our client is a growing financial services company focused on commercial lending, and its Business Analytics team is adding analysts. This is an entry point for someone early in an analytics career who wants their work to show up in actual business decisions.
You will own a set of recurring reports, take on questions from departments around the company, and track how tests and operational changes perform once they go live. You will get support from experienced teammates while you learn the company's data, systems, and lending business. Recent graduates are welcome to apply. What we care about most is analytical aptitude and real curiosity about how the business works.
What You Will Do
  • Own a group of recurring reports covering key metrics and department performance, and keep them current and correct.
  • Field ad-hoc questions from business partners, pull the data, and write up what you found in plain language.
  • Follow A/B tests and other business changes after launch so stakeholders can see what moved and why.
  • Check data before it goes out, flag anything that looks off, and escalate discrepancies so they get resolved.
  • Join stakeholder meetings to learn what leaders are trying to answer and what they need from a report.
  • Present results to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Work with the rest of the analytics team and partners in other departments to keep reporting consistent and on schedule.
  • Build a working knowledge of the company's data sources, systems, reporting tools, and analytical standards.
What You Bring
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
  • Some hands-on use of Python, R, or a similar language for working with data. If you don't know SQL yet, you should be ready to pick it up quickly.
  • Basic familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or another visualization tool.
  • A solid grasp of data analysis and reporting fundamentals, including why data quality matters.
  • The ability to explain what the numbers mean to people who don't work with data every day.
  • Careful attention to detail and the discipline to finish what you start.
  • Comfort handling several requests at once, hitting deadlines, and working with people across departments.
Nice to Have
  • A degree in business analytics, data analytics, statistics, economics, mathematics, data science, MIS, computer science, industrial engineering, operations research, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Internship, academic project, or job experience working with real data.
  • Experience building reports or dashboards.
  • Exposure to SQL.
  • Any experience with A/B testing or measuring the results of operational changes.
  • Background in banking, commercial lending, fintech, or credit and risk analytics.
Who Does Well Here
People who like solving problems with data and want to understand the business behind it. Typical backgrounds include junior business, data, reporting, BI, operations, financial, risk, or underwriting analyst roles, along with recent grads from quantitative programs. If you would rather do highly repetitive work or tend to avoid learning new systems, this probably isn't the right fit.
Room to Grow
The analytics team has a defined career ladder: Business Analyst I, Business Analyst II, Business Analyst III, Senior Business Analyst, and Business Analytics Lead. You will work on projects that directly shape how the company makes decisions and spend real time with leaders across multiple departments.
Work Arrangement and Other Details
  • Onsite at either the Sioux Falls or Sandy office for your first six months. After that, a hybrid schedule may be available depending on business needs, your performance, and leadership sign-off.
  • Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Expect the occasional evening or weekend when a deadline calls for it.
  • Candidates willing to relocate are welcome to apply, but the company does not offer relocation assistance.
You must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
