Qualifications:
Required Qualifications for Position
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 4+ years of experience with business modeling concepts and business application development. Demonstrated strong business analyst skills and practicing Business Analyst on 2-3 medium/large projects
• Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Certified Business Analyst professional (CBAP) strongly preferred
• Experience with all phases of Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with one or more of the methodologies: Waterfall, agile and/or hybrid methodologies
• Demonstrated knowledge of project management practices, process interviewing and mapping, and project scope documentation techniques
• Evidence of ability to lead, guide, and coach less experienced business analysts
• Ability to use appropriate modeling techniques and build business cases
• Strong teaming skills, collaboration, negotiation, communication, organizational, people management and conflict resolution skills
• Experience working closely with service providers
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications for Position
• Experience with hybrid agile/iterative development methodologies
• Knowledge/experience using testing tool like qTest, HP ALM and agile development tools like JIRA
Responsibilities:
Summary:
This role reports to the Manager of Applications and is responsible for identifying, defining and documenting business requirements and functional specifications for various IT projects and initiatives by collaborating with service providers, business partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of expectations, deliverables, and timelines. Working with Service Partners the IT Analyst will become knowledgeable of the assigned applications, collaborating with Service Partners to ensure resolution of operational service-based issues, reviewing analyzing and reporting progress on service incidents and requests. Preparing materials and facilitating regular performance review meetings. Preparing performance and status information for IT and business leaders as requested. Individuals at this level are considered competent to independently perform work assignments.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage own schedule of work and work with stakeholders or subject matter experts, with little supervision
• Demand Assessment – assist Business Relationship Managers to review and provide input into the business strategy and formulate business cases inputting analysis and views on high level business goals and outcomes
• Business Planning – begin eliciting business requirements and modeling processes (as-is/to-be, using Business Processing and/or Value Stream Mapping), recording in standard documentation, and socializing the project with other IT teams i.e. Architecture, Applications, Infrastructure, and Services
• Definition and Design – facilitate workshops to evolve scope, gather detailed requirements, develop use cases and begin visualizing the end result, using standard tools and techniques
• Requirements Elicitation – leads, designs and facilitates business engagements to establish scope, business needs, project objectives, outcomes and expectations on business processes
• Requirements Management – Oversees end to end traceability against quality business requirements using appropriate tools and templates
• Solution Assessment & Validation – Engages with key stakeholders to influence the solution design to meet business goals, scope and strategy requirements. Provides input into the identification and delivery of project benefits, traceability of requirements and impact of solutions. Develops cross business and service user communications, acceptance test plans and supports testing and implementation
• Delivery and Deployment – consulting role, providing clarification services regarding the project Vision, Scope and Requirements, plus assessing and managing Change Requests through the standard process. Assist testing teams craft suitable test scripts.
• Coach and provide daily guidance, leadership and direction to other Business Analysts or other members of the team
• Use templates, tools and (internal) processes consistently, helping evolve all as required, coach other Business Analysts on use when needed.
• Works with vendors to review and discuss products, and writes or participates in the writing of RFI’s and RFP’s. Reviews proposed designs and solutions for usability and to assure requirements are satisfied.
• Becomes domain and product expert by way of researching, testing, and familiarizing self with defined domains and new products and/or systems. Prepares and implements detailed, organized, and user-friendly written procedures for product and/or system end users. May develop and conduct end-user training programs utilizing a variety of training vehicles
• Observes various business processes and identifies and recommends opportunities for improvement. Supports procurement of new products or systems by conducting extensive product research and preparing detailed written reports to management
