Job Description

We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in the banking and financial services industry to join our team in Chicago, IL. In this role, you will act as a critical bridge between our business stakeholders and technology development teams. You will be responsible for gathering and analyzing complex business requirements, optimizing banking workflows, and ensuring the successful delivery of technology solutions that meet our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of banking operations, regulatory compliance, and financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and technical teams to elicit, document, and analyze business requirements for various banking and financial projects.
  • Documentation & Translation: Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria (e.g., BRDs, FRDs).
  • Process Optimization: Analyze existing banking processes (e.g., retail banking, lending, wealth management, risk management) to identify gaps, risks, and areas for workflow optimization.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary liaison between our Chicago-based business units and cross-functional technology teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all proposed technical solutions and process improvements adhere to current banking regulations, compliance standards, and internal security policies.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Support quality assurance efforts by reviewing test plans, coordinating and participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and ensuring delivered solutions meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Project Support & Training: Facilitate requirements workshops and sprint planning meetings. Provide post-implementation support and develop comprehensive training materials for end-users.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis and mapping to support informed business decisions and ensure data integrity across various financial platforms.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Economics, or a related field.
  • Location: Must be located in or willing to commute to our Chicago, IL office.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of banking products, financial operations, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., KYC, AML, Dodd-Frank, BSA).
  • Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies, with hands-on experience writing user stories and managing product backlogs.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.
  • Technical Tools: Proficiency in business analysis and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Visio, and the advanced MS Office suite.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), PMI-PBA, or CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner).
  • Experience working with core banking systems (e.g., Fiserv, FIS, Jack Henry) and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce Financial Services Cloud).
  • Knowledge of SQL, Tableau, or Power BI for data querying and visual reporting.
  • Prior experience navigating complex, enterprise-level digital transformation projects within a large financial institution.
