Job Description:
This internship provides a hands-on learning opportunity to gain exposure to various aspects of municipal government while supporting tasks related to economic mobility and quality of life. This internship will last for 8-10 weeks at 10-20 hours per week.
Examples of Duties:
- Provides general support and assistance to the Business & Neighborhood Services Team.
- Assists with collecting and preparing data for various projects.
- Supports the development of maps, presentations, and reports with guidance from staff.
- Helps staff prepare for public meetings and community engagement events.
- Conducts basic research to learn about policies, best practices, and strategies related to supporting businesses and neighborhoods.
- Participates in occasional field activities to collect data and distribute information as appropriate.
- Contributes to projects based on current events, issues, and departmental needs as a learning experience.
- Performs basic administrative tasks such as data entry, file management, and observing or assisting with customer service.
- Develops and practices written and verbal communication skills.
- Completes other learning-oriented tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in college.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
