Position Summary The Business Banker is responsible for developing, managing, and growing relationships with small to middle-market business clients through the origination, underwriting, and servicing of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loans. This role focuses on business development, credit analysis, relationship management, and cross-selling deposit and treasury management solutions to support client growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage relationships with business clients to identify lending and banking opportunities.
- Originate, structure, negotiate, and close C&I loans.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral to assess creditworthiness.
- Prepare and present credit packages for approval in accordance with bank policy.
- Manage an existing portfolio while maintaining strong asset quality and risk management practices.
- Generate new loan and deposit growth through networking, referrals, and community involvement.
- Cross-sell treasury management, deposit, and other commercial banking products.
- Conduct regular client and prospect calls to deepen relationships and identify opportunities.
- Monitor loan performance, financial reporting, and covenant compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Average of 2MM to 8MM per deal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of commercial banking, business banking, or C&I lending experience.
- Strong credit underwriting, financial analysis, and cash flow analysis skills.
- Experience evaluating business financial statements and tax returns.
- Proven business development and relationship management abilities.
- Knowledge of commercial loan structures, documentation, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills.
