Highly experienced Controller to lead and optimize all financial operations for a growing commercial construction business. This role blends hands-on construction accounting, operational leadership, and process improvement, with a strong emphasis on helping scale the organization's expected growth over the next 5-10 years.

Key Responsibilities
\n
\n
Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts
\n
Track and control project costs vs. budget
\n
Prepare and analyze:
\n
Work-in-progress (WIP) reports
\n
Profit & loss statements
\n
Balance sheets
\n
Cash flow statements
\n
Partner with Project Managers and operations teams to review financial performance and drive improvements
\n
Assess and improve existing accounting systems, workflows, and procedures
\n
Evaluate and implement construction ERP systems and financial technologies
\n
Ensure compliance with GAAP and financial regulations
\n
Oversee:
\n
Payroll
\n
Accounts Payable (AP)
\n
Accounts Receivable (AR)
\n
Coordinate with CPA firms, clients, and auditors for financial reviews and audits
\n
Implement and maintain internal controls and financial policies
\n
Conduct subcontractor prequalification reviews
\n
Manage cash flow and weekly cash forecasting
\n
Develop and track KPIs tied to financial and project performance
\n
Deliver consistent reporting and insights to executive leadership
\n
\n
\n
Qualifications
\n
Required
\n
\n
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
\n
Minimum 10+ years of construction accounting or financial management experience
\n
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
\n
Demonstrated experience with:
\n
WIP reporting
\n
Job costing
\n
Construction financial operations
\n
Proficiency with construction ERP systems
\n
Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities
\n
\n
Preferred
\n
\n
CPA, CMA, or CCIFP certification
\n
Experience in small-to-mid-sized construction firms
\n
Exposure to both:
\n
Smaller entrepreneurial companies
\n
Larger established general contractors
\n
