Job Title: Business Data & AI Specialist – GTM Data & Systems Strategy (Engineering Analyst IV)
Location: Houston/Calgary
Pay Rate: $49.00 per hour W 2 or T 4
Duration: 12+ Month Contract
Work Mode: Hybrid - Wed., and Fri., remote
Summary:
- Company is seeking a Business Data & AI Specialist to work within the Gas Transmission business.
- The role focuses on delivering applied data science, AI/ML, and automation solutions that support operational priorities.
- Embedded within the Data & Systems Strategy department, the role collaborates with various teams to translate challenges into data-driven solutions.
- The position emphasizes technical execution skills and understanding the business context to deliver measurable outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify, scope, and prioritize data and AI opportunities.
- Translate business questions into analytical or modeling problems, ensuring solutions align with business context and regulatory requirements.
- Perform data acquisition, cleansing, transformation, and validation across datasets.
- Design and build machine learning models using established techniques.
- Develop Generative AI and Agentic AI based solutions, including prompt engineering and workflow automation.
- Deliver analyses and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Create visualizations and dashboards for decision-making support.
- Prepare and maintain documentation for knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
- Write clean Python code and support model deployment with MLOps practices.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure solutions meet operational needs.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing business solutions.
- Stay current on advances in data science, ML, and AI relevant to the business context.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience applying data, analytics, and AI/ML to business or operational problems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and common data science libraries.
- Solid understanding of applied machine learning concepts and applied statistics.
- Ability to communicate insights and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders.
- Experience working collaboratively across functions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Generative AI, large language models (LLMs), or agent based workflows.
- SQL proficiency and experience with operational or analytical databases.
- Experience building dashboards or reports (e.g., Power BI).
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).
- Experience in engineering, operations, regulated, or energy sector environments.
- Exposure to documentation-heavy or audit-sensitive work contexts.
