Business Data Analyst – P&C Insurance
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3–4 days onsite per week

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst to support large-scale enterprise data initiatives within the Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with SQL, data analysis, data mapping, transformation, and source-to-target mapping.
This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, subject-matter experts, data engineers, developers, and data modelers to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with policy and claims processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform data profiling, analysis, validation, and transformation for enterprise data integration and reporting projects.
- Create source-to-target mapping (STTM) documents based on business and technical requirements.
- Gather and translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Partner with data engineers to implement and validate data consolidation, standardization, and transformation rules.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries for large datasets.
- Conduct data-quality assessments and recommend cleansing and enrichment strategies.
- Apply P&C Insurance knowledge across policy administration and claims lifecycles.
- Coordinate with business SMEs, data modelers, and technical teams to support successful data delivery.
- Prepare clear business requirements, mapping documents, data dictionaries, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business data analysis, mapping, and transformation.
- Strong SQL skills, including analytical functions, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience creating STTM documents.
- Good understanding of ETL processes and enterprise data flows.
- Experience consolidating and standardizing data from multiple sources.
- Strong knowledge of the P&C Insurance domain, including policy and claims data.
- Excellent stakeholder-management, communication, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Jersey City 3–4 days per week.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
