    Job Description

    Amazon Fuse - Business Development

Role purpose: Own strategic partnerships that expand the distribution, acquisition, and engagement of Amazon subscription services through third-party partners. Fuse BD sits at the intersection of Amazon's subscription services and major external distribution partners, creating commercial structures that embed Amazon services into products customers already buy and use.

    Core responsibilities

Originate and own strategic partnerships with telecommunications operators, broadband providers, OEMs, financial institutions, retailers, and other large-scale distribution partners. Develop distribution strategies for Amazon services including Prime, Prime Video, Amazon Music, and other subscription products.

Structure and negotiate complex commercial agreements - that solve unique problems - leveraging bundle structures, free trials, wholesale arrangements, fixed-fee structures, revenue shares, promotional offers, and/or embedded subscription models.

You will own the full deal lifecycle. From identifying the right opportunity, to business case development through negotiation, contracting, launch, and ongoing commercial management. Build the business case and economics for partnerships, modeling customer acquisition, conversion, engagement, retention, partner economics, and long-term value.

Internally, you will work across Amazon organizations, coordinating with product, finance, legal, tax, marketing, operations, engineering, and the individual subscription businesses to develop and execute partnerships.

Serve as the senior commercial relationship owner with partner executives, identifying opportunities to expand relationships across multiple Amazon businesses.

Drive post-launch performance, using subscriber, engagement, conversion, and financial data to identify under performance and develop initiatives to accelerate adoption.

Develop market and partner strategy, prioritizing the partners and distribution channels capable of generating meaningful subscriber scale.

Create repeatable partnership models that can be deployed across partners and markets rather than treating every agreement as a standalone transaction.

Navigate highly complex organizations, aligning Amazon and partner stakeholders whose objectives, economics, technical requirements, and timelines may differ.

Represent Amazon in executive-level negotiations, balancing partner objectives with Amazon's long-term customer and economic interests.

What makes Fuse BD different from traditional BD?

The role isn't about signing partnerships or managing accounts. It's about solving complex business problems forging close relationships with 3P partners, that amplify distribution + corporate development + product commercialization.

A strong Fuse BD person essentially asks:

How can we solve this unique Amazon problem through 3P assets, in a way that benefits both companies AND its joint customers?

    Key job responsibilities

    1. Develop and execute distribution strategy - Identify where and how Amazon subscription services such as Prime, Prime Video and Amazon Music should be distributed through third-party partners.

    2. Source and develop strategic partnerships - Build relationships with telcos, ISPs, OEMs and other large-scale consumer platforms that can materially expand Amazon's reach.

    3. Structure and negotiate complex deals - Lead commercial negotiations covering bundles, wholesale models, free trials, fixed fees, revenue shares, customer eligibility and other distribution constructs.

    4. Own deals end-to-end - Take opportunities from initial concept and business case through internal approval, negotiation, contracting, technical integration and commercial launch.

    5. Build business cases and evaluate economics - Assess subscriber potential, acquisition cost, conversion, engagement, retention and overall financial return to determine which opportunities Amazon should pursue.

    6. Lead cross-functional execution - Coordinate across Prime, Prime Video, Amazon Music, Finance, Legal, Tax, Product, Marketing, Engineering and Operations to get deals approved and launched.

    7. Manage senior partner relationships - Serve as Amazon's commercial owner with senior executives at strategic partners and expand relationships beyond individual transactions.

    8. Drive post-launch performance and growth - Track subscriber acquisition, activation, engagement and economics; identify gaps and work with partners and Amazon teams to improve performance.

    9. Create scalable partnership models - Turn successful deals into repeatable commercial and technical frameworks that can be deployed across additional partners, products and markets.

    10. Own market/portfolio priorities - Determine where BD resources should be deployed based on partner scale, customer reach, strategic importance and expected economic impact

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
