Position Overview

The Business Development Consultant is responsible for proactively generating qualified leads and referral opportunities for mitigation and restoration services. This role focuses on developing and nurturing referral relationships with insurance agents and agencies, property managers, commercial realtors, plumbers, and assigned industry verticals.

This position is ideal for a high-energy sales professional who excels at outbound prospecting, relationship building, and creating consistent top-of-funnel opportunities in a relationship-driven industry.

Essential Job Functions

Lead Generation & Referral Development

Identify, prospect, and develop referral relationships with:

Insurance agents and insurance agencies

Property managers and facility managers

Commercial realtors and brokers

Plumbers and trade partners

Assigned targeted industry verticals

Execute daily outbound activities including in-person visits, calls, emails, and networking

Establish referral agreements and preferred-vendor relationships where applicable

Generate consistent, qualified mitigation and restoration leads for operations and project teams

Territory & Vertical Management

Manage an assigned territory and/or targeted industry verticals

Research and prioritize high-potential referral accounts

Build and maintain a structured cadence of touchpoints with referral sources

Track prospecting activity, referrals, and engagement in CRM

Education & Brand Representation

Educate referral partners on company services including water, fire, mold, storm, and specialty restoration

Communicate emergency response capabilities, service differentiators, and response times

Represent the company professionally in the marketplace

Participate in trade shows, association meetings, and industry events

Internal Collaboration

Work closely with sales leadership, marketing, and operations to align lead generation efforts

Provide feedback on lead quality, referral trends, and market opportunities

Support emergency response initiatives as needed, including occasional after-hours availability

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

Number of new referral relationships established

Qualified leads generated per month

Activity volume (visits, calls, emails, events)

Referral source engagement and retention

CRM accuracy and reporting compliance

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

2+ years of B2B sales, lead generation, or business development experience

Proven ability to prospect and develop referral-based relationships

Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills

Valid driver's license and ability to travel within assigned territory

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in mitigation, restoration, construction, insurance, or property services

Familiarity with referral-based sales models

CRM experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)

Experience working with insurance professionals or property management firms

Work Environment

This position operates in a combination of field-based sales environments and office settings. The role requires frequent travel averaging approximately 65% within the assigned territory to meet with referral partners and attend networking events.

Employees may occasionally be required to visit job sites, restoration projects, or commercial properties, which may involve exposure to construction environments.
