Business Development Director – Data Center Offtake
Location: Remote / Flexible (U.S.)
Preferred: Houston, Arkansas, or NYC (with travel)
Travel: Regular travel to Arkansas & Texas
Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Director to lead origination and offtake development for large-scale, private power projects serving data centers, AI compute, hyperscale, and high-performance computing customers. This is a true hunter role focused on securing long-term power agreements for high-reliability, utility-independent generation.

The role is ideal for an experienced originator who understands natural gas generation, large-load power requirements, and how to close complex commercial energy agreements in fast-moving markets where speed-to-power and certainty matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate and close power offtake agreements with data center developers, hyperscalers, AI compute, and HPC customers

  • Build and manage a pipeline of PPAs, Energy-as-a-Service, and take-or-pay contracts

  • Position private, natural gas–based generation as a faster, more reliable alternative to traditional utility interconnection

  • Develop value propositions around speed-to-power, reliability, scalability, and long-term price certainty

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, development, and finance teams to align commercial terms with project execution

  • Represent the platform at industry events and customer meetings

Qualifications

  • 7–15+ years of experience in power origination, energy business development, or large-load power markets

  • Demonstrated success as a hunter and closer of complex commercial power agreements

  • Existing relationships within the data center, AI, hyperscale, or digital infrastructure ecosystem

  • Strong understanding of natural gas generation, reliability metrics, and emissions considerations

  • Ability to translate technical solutions into compelling commercial value

  • Willingness to travel regularly

Note: This role requires experience with fossil-fuel-based power generation. Renewable-only backgrounds without gas or thermal generation experience are unlikely to be a fit.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $175K–$225K (DOE)

  • Bonus: Up to 50% of base salary

  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits (100% employee-only covered)

  • 401(k) with company match up to 4%

  • Three weeks PTO + one week sick/personal time
