Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the full pre-signature sales process, from initial introduction through proposal and executed agreement. This role focuses on building relationships with plant leadership, procurement teams, and corporate sustainability executives while driving the adoption of data-driven waste reduction and sustainability programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead introduction calls, discovery conversations, and proposal presentations
• Manage opportunities through the full pre-signature sales cycle, from initial engagement to signed agreement
• Build relationships with plant leadership, procurement teams, and corporate sustainability executives
• Work with our Sustainability Analytics team to develop data-driven program recommendations
• Build and grow your own pipeline through networking, industry engagement, and strategic outreach
• Travel to client sites for meetings, facility tours, and relationship developmentMeet with new or existing customers to discuss how specific UCB products or services can meet their needs.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 4+ years of business development experience within sustainability or environmental services
• Experience selling consultative sustainability programs or solutions
• Proven ability to manage complex sales processes and build relationships across organizations
• Comfortable engaging both plant-level operational teams and executive leadership
• Strong relationship builder with a thoughtful, consultative sales approach
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow a book of business
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and site visitsStrong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 360
