Job Description:

Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Business Development Manager for Strategic Supplier Partnerships & Circular Programs for our client based out of Greensboro, NC.

This assignment is anticipated to be a 12 month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.

This will also have a first‑shift Monday-Friday schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between purchasing, business units, and strategic supplier partners to drive alignment on long‑term business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships across procurement, engineering, quality, supply chain, operations, and business leadership teams.
  • Consolidate business priorities, risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives to support informed decision‑making.
  • Lead cross‑functional investigations and develop recommendations, presentations, and executive‑level decision materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supplier collaboration, innovation, sustainability initiatives, and long‑term value creation.
  • Support development and execution of regional business strategies focused on lifecycle value, supply continuity, and future growth opportunities.
  • Coordinate governance activities, executive reviews, performance reporting, and business updates.
  • Drive consistency in supplier engagement practices, reporting structures, and governance standards across stakeholder groups.
  • Foster collaboration between internal teams and suppliers to improve efficiency, transparency, and overall business performance.
  • Support early involvement initiatives with stakeholders to ensure key supplier and sourcing requirements are considered during product and service planning activities.
  • Identify emerging market trends, supplier capabilities, and innovation opportunities that can enhance competitiveness and strategic positioning.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to supplier management, strategic sourcing, and organizational effectiveness.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier management, supply chain, or related commercial functions.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders across multiple functions and business units.
  • Experience developing business cases, strategic recommendations, and executive presentations.
  • Strong understanding of supplier relationship management, governance processes, and cross‑functional business operations.
  • Experience driving initiatives that improve operational performance, supplier engagement, or long‑term business value.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex business situations and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations with multiple priorities and competing demands.
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting sustainability, circular economy, lifecycle management, remanufacturing, or aftermarket business initiatives.
  • Background in manufacturing, industrial, automotive, or heavy equipment environments.
  • Experience working with supplier innovation programs and early supplier engagement strategies.
  • Exposure to strategic planning, governance forums, and executive leadership reviews.
