Business Development Manager

What You'll Do:

The Business Development Manager leads business development activities that support office and regional growth objectives through client relationship development, lead generation, market intelligence, proposal support, marketing coordination, and strategic planning. This role collaborates closely with
technical and operational leaders to identify opportunities, expand client relationships, and align business development efforts with organizational goals. The Business Development Manager serves as a key contributor to growth initiatives while mentoring junior business development staff and promoting ECS Core Values.

 

Responsibilities

• Identifies and researches leads for new work and proposal leads, lunch and learns, and other business development tasks
• Assists junior staff with resolution of issues
• Uses ECS systems in the coordination of business development tasks
• Coordinates internal communications with staff members on a variety of business development tasks
• Mentors junior staff and supports the overall development of the team
• Assists with the coordination of business development meetings and connects clients to staff
• Develops business development strategic plans and budgets
• Identifies, tracks, and coordinates conference, industry, and award opportunities
• Consults with your supervisor to help prioritize tasks weekly
• Supplies content and coordinates for email, social media, marketing campaigns, website, and industry conferences
• Performs market research to understand the markets and industries we serve
• Maintains and updates databases, generates leads, and follows up with clients
• Additional responsibilities may include managing and/or mentoring business development team members
• Attends and participates in professional associations and networking groups
• Assists with coaching engineering staff on successful client interaction and business development strategies

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

• 4 years of related experience with a degree or 8 years of related experience without a degree
• BS in Business Administration, Marketing, or similar, preferred
• If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Excellent oral & written communication skills
• Dependable, self-motivated, responsible and detail-oriented
• Ability to work effectively in teams, with clients, peers and subordinates, as well as independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of general business development processes including research, planning, promotion and evaluation
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Strong level of understanding of prioritizing and urgency of work in the consulting industry
• Ability to understand priorities and urgency of work
