Business Development Manager

Livermore or Stockton | Full-Time | On-Site | $130,000 - $150,000

We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help strengthen our presence throughout Northern California. This is a relationship-focused role for someone who understands that business development is not simply about making introductions. It is about building trust, staying connected, identifying the right opportunities, and following through long after a project is awarded.

The right person is genuine, strategic, and comfortable building relationships at every level. They understand the commercial construction industry, communicate well, and know how to connect client needs with the experience and capabilities of the broader W. L. Butler team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop new client relationships while strengthening existing partnerships
• Identify and pursue opportunities within private-sector markets, including retail, office, tenant improvement, shell, and other commercial work
• Represent W. L. Butler at client meetings, networking events, and industry functions
• Work closely with leadership and internal teams to develop business strategies and pursue the right opportunities
• Lead the development of proposals, qualification packages, presentations, brochures, and other sales materials
• Prepare sales forecasts and help establish annual business development goals
• Maintain clear, organized records of client activity, opportunities, and follow-up
• Gather client feedback following project completion and identify opportunities to improve the client experience
• Coordinate with project and warranty teams to help ensure a smooth transition, timely follow-through, and continued client satisfaction
• Evaluate internal processes and recommend practical ways to improve business development and client-service efforts

• Collaborating effectively with leadership, estimating, operations, marketing, and project teams
• Keeping business development activity organized, current, and actionable
• Representing W. L. Butler with professionalism, integrity, and a genuine interest in helping clients succeed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• At least 5 years of relevant industry marketing or business development experience
• Experience building and maintaining professional client relationships
• Strong understanding of commercial construction and the markets W. L. Butler serves
• Experience developing proposals, qualification packages, presentations, and sales materials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow-up items
• Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information
• Valid driver's license and a driving record consistent with W. L. Butler's driving policy
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
• Familiarity with Procore, SharePoint, OneDrive, digital images, and similar document-management systems
