Job Description

Business Development Manager – Data Center Power

We are a premier American manufacturer of utility-grade switches, relays, lockout relays, and battery monitoring systems. Headquartered in Weymouth, Massachusetts since 1946, we design and manufacture mission-critical components serving the electric utility, data center, defense, and industrial markets.

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager – Data Center Power to expand our presence in the rapidly growing data center market.

This role is ideal for a proven business development professional who understands the data center power ecosystem and has experience selling grid-connected power equipment, electrical components, or related technologies. The successful candidate will bring an established network of industry relationships and the ability to identify opportunities, open doors, and build new business from the ground up.

The primary focus of this position will be to establish our products as a specified and approved solution within data center power infrastructure, develop strategic partnerships, and generate new revenue opportunities.

This is an individual contributor position that may be based remotely or at our Weymouth, Massachusetts headquarters. Travel of approximately 60% or more is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of how hyperscale, colocation, and other large data centers plan, specify, and purchase power distribution equipment.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers, including data center operators, consulting engineers, EPC firms, OEMs, electrical contractors, and other industry partners.
  • Identify and pursue new applications and market opportunities for switches, relays, and related products within the data center power ecosystem.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans for new and existing accounts.
  • Create new sales channels and strategic partnerships to accelerate growth.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, consultants, OEMs, and industry partners.
  • Drive product inclusion in data center specifications and Approved Vendor Lists (AVLs).
  • Identify and develop OEM partnership opportunities.
  • Manage the business development pipeline from initial opportunity through successful execution.
  • Work closely with internal sales, engineering, marketing, and product teams to support customer opportunities.
  • Provide technical and application support during customer presentations and proposal development.
  • Develop strong product and application knowledge to establish credibility with engineering and technical audiences.
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Support marketing initiatives, technical presentations, white papers, training, and other industry-focused content.
  • Provide market intelligence regarding customer needs, competitive products, emerging technologies, and industry trends.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding company strategy, financial information, customer information, and other proprietary matters.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of sales or business development experience within the data center ecosystem.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience selling electrical power-system equipment, apparatus, components, or similar technology.
  • Demonstrated success developing new business and building a market, territory, or customer base.
  • Established relationships within the data center power ecosystem strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with data center operators, consulting engineers, EPCs, OEMs, electrical contractors, or similar organizations.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to confidently communicate with engineers and other technical professionals.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • Experience selling across multiple customer functions, including engineering, operations, maintenance, procurement, and executive management.
  • Knowledge of utility electrical power-system control and protection equipment is highly desirable.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing a large geographic territory.
  • Must reside near a major airport and be comfortable with 60%+ travel.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a builder and a hunter—someone who sees opportunity, knows how to open doors, and is motivated by creating business rather than simply managing existing accounts.

The ideal candidate has a strong network within the data center industry, understands how power infrastructure decisions are made, and can navigate the relationships between owners, engineers, EPCs, OEMs, contractors, and suppliers.

We are a growth-focused company with a bias for action. This role requires a self-starter with a competitive mindset, strong technical curiosity, and a genuine passion for winning new business.

If you know the data center power market, have the relationships to get in the door, and enjoy building business from the ground up, we want to hear from you.
