Business Development Representative – Industrial Distribution

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-energy Business Development Representative (BDR) to join a well-established, privately owned leader in the Houston industrial sector. In this role, you will be the primary engine of growth, identifying new market opportunities and building a robust pipeline of clients across municipal water, wastewater, and industrial processing sectors.

This is a high-impact position designed for a proactive "hunter" who can comfortably articulate technical value propositions to engineers, project managers, and procurement leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Proactively identify and qualify new business opportunities through cold calling, email campaigns, and professional networking within the industrial PVF (Pipe, Valve, and Fitting) space.

  • Market Expansion: Research and map out key players in the Texas and Gulf Coast markets, specifically targeting engineering firms, municipalities, and industrial contractors.

  • Relationship Management: Act as the first point of contact for potential clients, establishing rapport and navigating prospects through the early stages of the sales funnel.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with the Outside Sales and Technical Engineering teams to transition qualified leads into technical quotes and successful project closures.

  • CRM Discipline: Maintain accurate records of all outreach activities and lead statuses to ensure precise sales forecasting.

  • Technical Literacy: Quickly gain proficiency in a diverse industrial product catalog to confidently handle initial technical inquiries and "pain point" discovery.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years in B2B sales or business development, preferably within industrial distribution or a manufacturing environment.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills; you must be highly comfortable navigating gatekeepers and engaging prospects over the phone.

  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to learn, understand, and explain technical specifications for industrial piping and flow control products.

  • Drive: A self-starter mentality with the autonomy to consistently meet or exceed weekly activity metrics (calls, emails, and appointments).

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (equivalent industry experience will be considered).

  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the Houston industrial landscape and Gulf Coast infrastructure projects is a significant advantage.

Why Join the Team?

  • Competitive Compensation: A strong base salary (commensurate with experience) plus a rewarding commission/bonus structure.

  • Stability: Join a stable, community-focused company with over 45 years of successful operations in the Houston area.
