    Job Description

    Business Development Representative

    About the opportunity

A bootstrapped, profitable, fast-growing cybersecurity and compliance firm, on the Inc. 5000 three years running — is adding hunting capacity to a sales engine that already works. You'll join a lean, in-office sales team where every rep is overperforming, selling a service that companies are increasingly forced to buy: security audits, penetration testing, and continuous compliance.

    The role

This is a full-cycle BDR/SDR seat; you own the client end-to-end. No separate AE is catching your handoff; you source, qualify, run the cycle, and close, with subject-matter experts joining you on calls and coaching built in from day one. It's the rare early-career sales seat where you're not just booking meetings for someone else — you own the whole relationship and the outcome.

    What you'll do

    • Source and create first conversations with security, compliance, and risk buyers through outbound (calls, email, LinkedIn) plus inbound follow-up (~10 inbounds/month to the team)
    • Qualify and run the full sales cycle end to end — no separate closer
    • Pull in subject-matter experts on technical calls (an SME joins roughly every second call), so you learn the domain as you sell
    • Own client relationships through to signature, and keep them as they renew
    • Build and manage your own pipeline with discipline; participate in the weekly sales meeting (Excel + AI tooling)

    What we're looking for

    • 1–4 years in an BDR / full-cycle sales role. Cybersecurity or tech background preferred, but not required
    • A genuine talker — sociable, high-EQ, builds rapport fast
    • Entrepreneurial, self-directed, disciplined, and hungry — comfortable self-sourcing pipeline from a standing start
    • Coachable — wants to learn the domain and take feedback (SMEs and training are built in)
    • NYC/NJ-based, able to be in the East Brunswick office 4 days a week (Every Friday is off)
    • Nice to have: basic Excel, familiarity with AI sales tools

    Compensation

Base salary of $65,000 to $70,000, plus uncapped commission.

The structure is the point here. You earn commission on everything you hunt and close, and it keeps paying you. As long as your accounts re-sign, that commission carries into the following year and stacks on top of whatever new business you bring in, so year two builds on year one instead of starting over. There is no cap at any stage.

You also get learning and development, certification, and conference budgets available on the sales side, not just in delivery. Base salary is reviewed and increased as you grow.
