About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Business Development Representative to support growth initiatives for an IT government contracting business. This on-site role is ideal for someone who enjoys networking, researching opportunities, building relationships, and identifying potential business leads across federal, state, and local government markets.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• Identify, research, and track new business opportunities within federal, state, and local government markets.
• \n
• Support networking efforts with government agencies, prime contractors, subcontractors, teaming partners, and industry contacts.
• \n
• Monitor relevant procurement portals, opportunity pipelines, agency forecasts, and industry events for potential leads.
• \n
• Assist with outreach to prospective clients, partners, and stakeholders through email, phone, and in-person networking.
• \n
• Maintain organized records of contacts, opportunities, follow-ups, and business development activity.
• \n
• Help prepare introductory materials, capability statements, meeting notes, and opportunity summaries as needed.
• \n
• Coordinate with internal leadership to share market intelligence, potential teaming opportunities, and upcoming solicitations.
• \n
• Represent the company professionally while supporting relationship-building and lead-generation efforts.

Qualifications

\n

• \n
• 1–2 years of business development, sales, government contracting, procurement, or related experience preferred.
• \n
• Experience or familiarity with federal, state, or local government contracting is strongly preferred.
• \n
• Interest in IT services, technology solutions, and government procurement.
• \n
• Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• \n
• Ability to conduct basic market research and identify relevant opportunities.
• \n
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable tracking outreach and follow-up activity.
• \n
• Professional demeanor and ability to work independently in an on-site office environment.
• \n
• Working knowledge of common business tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and online procurement portals is a plus.

Schedule, Pay, and Benefits

\n

This is an on-site salaried position based in Reston, VA. The schedule is Monday through Friday. The salary is $40k to $45k, based on experience. Potential for bonuses especially if new business contract are closed.
