Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across multiple levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience leading and closing complex partnership agreements, including negotiation, structuring, and implementation.
  • Experience with partnerships for Artificial intelligence/Machine learning (AI/ML) model training.
  • Experience working cross-functionally and managing projects with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

About the job

As a Business Development Senior Associate, you will be responsible for strategically sourcing, negotiating, and securing critical third-party data partnerships to power DeepMind's foundational AI models, particularly Gemini. You will act as the key liaison between GDM researchers and external global partners, translating complex research needs into actionable data acquisition strategies, managing the end-to-end agreement lifecycle for high-value agreements, and ensuring a robust pipeline of data assets aligned with Gemini's "core capability" priorities.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000-$161,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead for DeepMind researchers, translating technical needs into third-party data sourcing strategies for Gemini, while maintaining an understanding of the AI landscape, key players, and emerging trends.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize partners globally to build and manage a pipeline aligned with DeepMind's priorities.
  • Strengthen stakeholder relationships to align cross-functional teams and ensure agreement execution, while refining operational processes to drive pipeline management, and overall team workflow efficiency.
  • Lead discussions for partnerships, navigating business terms, usage rights, and legal/ethical compliance, driving agreements through internal reviews, serving as the primary authority for the team.
  • Collaborate with regional Business Development teams to communicate the capability priorities, share partnership needs, and incorporate regional market insights.
