    Business & Digital Literacy Librarian
    Full time (40 hours per week)
     
    Are you passionate about helping local entrepreneurs and community members reach their goals? Euclid Public Library is looking for an energetic and creative person to join our Adult Services team as the Business and Digital Literacy Librarian.  In this role, you will bring our brand-new Business Resource Center and Technology Classroom to life.  You'll connect small business owners with the tools they need to grow, teach hands-on digital skills to patrons of all experience levels, and design engaging programs that make a real difference in our community. 
     
    Qualifications: Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    Experience or coursework in business reference resources, instructional design, or workforce development preferred.
    Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
     
    Schedule: 12:45pm to 9:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:00am to 5:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, alternating Fridays (8:00am to 5:00pm) and Saturdays (8:30am to 5:00pm).
    The schedule is subject to change based on the needs of the library.  
     
    Starting hourly rate: $25.65 per hour

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Business & Digital Literacy Librarian assists in accomplishing this mission by driving engagement for the Business Center through innovative programming, acquiring specialized materials and informational guides, and promoting digital literacy.

    POSITION DUTIES:
     
    65% Public Service
    * Answer reference questions and locate library materials for patrons
    * Arranges interlibrary loans and reserves
    * Assists patrons in using library equipment and troubleshooting computer, software, and device issues
    * Establishes and maintains order in the Business Center and adult computer areas
    * Instructs patrons in using computer software applications, specialized databases, and electronic resources
    * Notarizes documents as a notary public for term of commission, voluntary
    * Promotes services and organizes displays of materials
    * Recommends materials, business guides, and digital tools to patrons
    * Will be required to work public services points as assigned
    15% Collection Development
    * Collaborates with Technical Services Department or original cataloging
    * Examines material and database records for errors
    * Maintains deep knowledge of industry trends and monitors emerging digital and business resource needs
    * Monitors budget for assigned collections
    * Reads professional reviews and publications relevant to business, technology, and digital literacy fields
    * Select and maintains collections according to professional standards
    * Select and requests purchase of materials according to requests and trends
    * Verifies an assigns call numbers as needed
    15% Programming
    * Conducts library tours and community visits
    * Guides the evolution and development of the library's digital literacy curriculum to meet emerging community needs
    * Instructs on information search and retrieval
    * Prepares and conducts public programming for adults in digital literacy and business center resources
    * Prepares annotated bibliographies, specialized business handouts, and resource guides
    5% Miscellaneous
    * Alerts supervisor to problems encountered in work routines
    * Attends meetings and serves on internal and external committees
    * Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars
       and in-service training sessions
    * Participates in the Strategic Planning process
    * Performs additional duties and assignments, as requested

    QUALIFICATIONS: 
     
    Education, Training and/or Experience
    * Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited school or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    * Experience or coursework in business reference resources, instructional design, or workforce development preferred
    * Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record
    * Acquires Notary Public Commission with the State of Ohio, voluntary*

    * Ability to interact with people of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds for the purpose
      of providing professional service.
    * Ability to work effectively with current and emerging technologies
    * Ability to work with budgetary restraints
    * Knowledge of a wide range of books and authors
    * Knowledge of CLEVNET system*, bibliographic databases, Dewey Decimal Classification System
    * Knowledge of the American Library Association Bill of Rights*
    * Knowledge of Core Competencies required for position*
    * Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements*
    * Knowledge of current interests and popular culture
    * Knowledge of library services, policies and procedures*
    * Knowledge of materials processing*, cataloging and classification
    * Proficient with Microsoft Office, Internet applications and computer hardware and software
    * Proficient with print and online resources; including searching skills, email, websites, databases and online operating systems*
    * Understanding of patron confidentiality requirements and ethics responsibilities under Ohio law*
    * May be acquired after hire

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
     
    Work requires light physical effort including very frequent standing, walking, and lifting of materials. Requires the ability to operate business office and library equipment; the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set up and maintain work files; lift, retrieve and provide materials to patrons in a timely manner. 

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
     
    Work performed in good working conditions - occasionally subjected to poor physical or environmental conditions and/or occasionally health and safety hazards. There is daily use of a computer.  Position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and requires periodic participation and attendance at library events and meetings.
