The Business Intelligence Manager is a hands‑on Manager / Technical Lead who leads GOVX’s Business Intelligence and Analytics function. This player‑coach role combines strategic leadership with deep technical ownership of our BI environment, enabling data‑driven decision‑making across the organization.

The BI Manager is responsible for semantic model design, analytics pipeline development, ad‑hoc reporting, and advanced analysis that support business operations and financial performance. This role owns semantic models and business logic, Power BI datasets, reports, and standards and Gold‑layer analytics data, BI governance, modeling patterns, and analytics enablement. This role requires a strong understanding of business processes and metrics, a passion for modern analytics technologies, and the ability to clearly communicate insights through both written and verbal presentations. The BI Manager regularly provides recommendations and participates in cross‑functional problem‑solving related to system performance, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes.

The BI environment is built on Microsoft Fabric, including Spark notebooks, Delta Lakehouse architecture, semantic data models, and the Power BI platform. The BI Manager ensures that analytics data is high‑quality, well‑governed, and trusted, bringing strong working knowledge of Fabric concepts (OneLake, Lakehouse, Direct Lake, Spark) and deep expertise in Power BI, data modeling, DAX, and performance optimization.

This role manages a small BI team and collaborates closely with Data Engineering and Product Management. The BI Manager works to load shape Silver data into analytics‑ready Gold datasets. While this is a leadership role, it remains hands‑on, directing BI developers while actively contributing to model design, reporting, and targeted data transformations.

·        Own the Gold layer of the analytics data model within Microsoft Fabric.

·        Perform Spark / SQL transformations (e.g., PySpark, SparkSQL) to shape curated data for analytics use cases.

·        Ensure Gold‑layer data is analytics‑ready, well‑documented, and optimized for Direct Lake and Power BI consumption.

·        Collaborate with Data Engineering to request upstream data changes or enhancements when needed.

·        Partner with Data Engineering to define data contracts, schemas, freshness requirements, and quality expectations.

·        Translate business needs into clear, actionable data requirements for engineering teams.

·        Work directly with stakeholders to define KPIs, prioritize analytics initiatives, and validate outputs.
