Amazon is on a mission to be the Earth"s Best Employer. Do you want to help get us there?

Note: This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the fastest-growing and most profitable business segments within Amazon. As the world"s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, AWS is disrupting the traditional infrastructure market and redefining how organizations consume technology. We strive to be the most customer-centric company on Earth, and to get there, we need the most talented, bright, and driven people on our team.

We"re looking for a passionate, curious, and talented Business Intelligence Engineer to join our HR team in support of a growing business segment which provides critical services for AWS national security customers. This is a high business impact role for a candidate who can build data solutions that drive operational excellence, automate manual processes, and deliver actionable insights. Your ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives, evangelize AI-powered solutions, and drive efficiency through automation is key to success.

This position requires superior analytical strength, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to synthesize moving parts of the business to drive results. The role demands a strong sense of urgency, sound judgement, and willingness to roll up your sleeves. You will work with HR Leaders, Security, global stakeholders, AWS business ops/finance, and business-aligned program teams. The right candidate will possess a strong technical background in data engineering and analytics, thrive in an ever-changing environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities.

From Day 1, Business Intelligence Engineers are given ownership and autonomy to make data-driven decisions that drive significant impact on the customer experience and the business. This role requires working across many domains including HR, Security, Engineering, Compensation, and Finance with high visibility to senior leaders at AWS.

Key job responsibilities

Respond to questions with data-driven analysis. Build self-service tools that empower customers to make informed decisions quickly.

Drive innovation with AI-powered self-service analytics. Evangelize and pilot AI/ML use cases leveraging QuickSuite to transform how we work. Build interactive dashboards and AI-powered agents that enable teams to answer their own questions. Explore automation frameworks, machine learning models, and agentic workflows to improve our data capabilities. Challenge the status quo and bring bold ideas that reshape our approach to workforce analytics.

Deliver operational success. Support execution of key deliverables such as Monthly Business Reviews and specialized compensation administration. Build scalable solutions that move processes from manual to automated in support of growing scale and complexity. Move fast, iterate quickly, and take ownership of problems to drive them to resolution.

Ensure data integrity. Develop and maintain reporting QuickSight dashboards that synthesize the needs of HR, security, recruiting, and business teams to deliver accurate, reliable data. Ensure data quality and audit compliance across workforce analytics and compensation programs.

Build scalable infrastructure. Design and implement ETL pipelines, data models, and warehousing solutions. Write quality SQL and Python code to transform raw data into structured, analysis-ready datasets that enable smart decision making.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
