Business Intelligence & Healthcare Data Analyst Location: Denver
Hourly Pay: $50-65/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking a Business Intelligence & Healthcare Data Analyst to support data, analytics, reporting, and information management initiatives within a managed care environment. This position partners with business stakeholders, project teams, application resources, and external vendors to understand reporting and data needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience working with healthcare data, particularly within managed care, and understands how healthcare data is structured and used across key operational functions. This individual will be involved throughout the lifecycle of reporting and data solutions, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support.

The position also supports analytics associated with healthcare quality and performance programs, including HEDIS, Medicare Stars, quality-of-care initiatives, and other managed care reporting areas.
Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business users and technical teams to gather and document reporting, analytics, and data-extract requirements.

  • Translate business needs into technical specifications, report designs, data mappings, and extract requirements.

  • Evaluate available data sources and determine appropriate technical approaches for delivering requested information.

  • Analyze source data to understand its definition, quality, completeness, and potential impact on reporting and business outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation associated with reporting and data solutions.

  • Build data extracts, reports, and related solutions based on approved requirements and perform appropriate unit testing.

  • Work directly with end users throughout development to communicate design considerations, timelines, dependencies, and expected outcomes.

  • Coordinate user validation and acceptance of completed reporting and analytics solutions.

  • Support testing, change management, and production deployment processes.

  • Create, maintain, and monitor scheduled reporting and data-processing jobs.

  • Contribute to the planning, scoping, design, and delivery of data and information-management components within larger projects.

  • Coordinate with business stakeholders, vendors, and project leadership to help ensure deliverables and timelines are met.

  • Identify data or technical issues that may affect project outcomes and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Assist with managing and reprioritizing reporting and analytics requests as business needs evolve.

  • Provide project status, effort estimates, completion forecasts, and other relevant updates.

  • Provide technical and administrative support for business intelligence reporting tools and reporting environments.

  • Support change-management processes associated with BI reporting solutions.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 1–3 years of technical experience working with healthcare system data structures and understanding the business meaning and use of managed care data.

  • Strong SQL skills, including querying, analyzing, and validating data.

  • Experience troubleshooting data and technical issues.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience creating or modifying reports, data extracts, or related applications.

  • Experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence technology stack, including tools such as:

    • SSIS

    • SSAS

    • SSRS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to gather requirements and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
Experience working with Medicaid and/or Medicare data and familiarity with managed care operations in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

  • Claims processing

  • Membership and eligibility

  • Provider data management

  • Healthcare financial administration

  • Pharmacy administration

  • Care management

Experience supporting healthcare quality and performance reporting, including HEDIS, Medicare Stars, or quality-of-care programs, is also highly relevant.
Location & Work Arrangement
Candidates must reside in Colorado.

This is a hybrid position in the Denver metro area requiring onsite work two days per week.
