Class Summary

Job Description

This position will oversee the Assurance & Compliance team within the Fiscal Management Division of the Department of Water Resources. The Assurance & Compliance team is responsible for bank reconciliations, fix assets, journal entries, monitoring accounts receivable, review of various balance sheet accounts, preparing and submitting various Water and Sewer financial surveys and reports, month end and year end close activities, and coordinating with the Department of Financial Services for accounting and reporting purposes.

Essential Duties

  • Prepares, review, analyzes, and submits variety of complex financial data and/or special reports, reconciliations, work papers, communications, schedules, tables, and/or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies
  • Resolves complex reconciliation and account analysis problems requiring in-depth research
  • Coordinates and participates in special projects related to financial activities
  • Supervises, trains, evaluates, and manages work assignments for Analysts
  • Ensure tasks are completed and deadlines are met
  • Serves as Department liaison for accounting related items including internal and external audits
  • Develop and implement financial procedures
  • Performs other duties of similar nature or level

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval.

Grade

The grade for this position is 103. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field; AND

  • Three years of progressively professional level accounting experience

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.

  • Valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications

  • Five years of progressively professional level accounting experience
