The Sr Manager of Business Operations for Amazon Music serves as the Music General Manager's (GM) organizational backbone, owning the operating cadence [weekly/monthly/quarterly business reviews (WBR/MBR/QBR), critical priority reviews (CPRs), data & priorities review (D&P)], annual and long-range planning cycles (OP1/OP2, 3YF) for the business, along with goal-setting mechanisms and year-round progress reviews. You will lead the centralized Program Management Office (PMO), a lean team that drives cross-organizational execution through shared standards, operational clarity, and relentless simplification.

The role bridges all business functions and key partners to diagnose execution velocity and productivity gaps. You own the operating model that translates strategy into delivery, aligning people, priorities, and information to drive measurable outcomes. You sit at the intersection of strategy and operations - converting leadership intent into organizational action while surfacing ground-level insights that sharpen strategic decisions.

Key job responsibilities

Strategic Integration

  • Define and maintain the priority framework, ensuring organizational resources align to the highest-impact work
  • Own the end-to-end planning process for Music - define framing, timelines, and workback plans aligned to Amazon cadences; drive teams to deliver inputs that roll into a unified plan
  • Match mechanisms to priority criticality, concentrating leadership time where it matters most
  • Surface misalignment between stated priorities and actual resource allocation; propose corrections
  • Serve as the integrating layer across PMO partner functions, ensuring top-down priorities, updates, and reporting needs are woven seamlessly into the Amazon Music operating rhythm

Operating Model Ownership

  • Design and maintain the organizational operating rhythm (business reviews, planning cycles, leadership forums) that keeps the organization synchronized
  • Build mechanisms to surface problems early, escalate appropriately, and resolve efficiently
  • Own the information architecture that gives leadership clear, timely visibility into execution - what gets reported, how, and to whom
  • Continuously inspect and improve the operating model based on organizational feedback and observed friction
  • Balance standardization with localized agility, recognizing that not all teams operate identically

Execution Velocity

  • Identify and remove systemic bottlenecks that slow decision-making or delivery across organizational boundaries
  • Ensure cross-functional dependencies are visible, tracked, and resolved before they become blockers
  • Drive accountability for commitments made in planning forums through consistent follow-through mechanisms

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
