Business Outreach Specialist

The City of Carmel is seeking a dynamic Business Outreach Specialist to serve as a trusted connector between the Mayor's Office and our thriving business community. This highly visible role is perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships, coordinating meaningful events, and helping businesses succeed.

From welcoming new businesses with ribbon cuttings to leading community engagement initiatives and strengthening partnerships with regional organizations, you'll play a key role in advancing the Mayor's vision for one of the nation's most desirable cities.

What You'll Do

• Lead and coordinate all City business ribbon cuttings from planning through execution.
• Organize Shop Small, Shop Local campaigns and other business engagement initiatives.
• Grow and support the Carmel Small Business Network through strategic outreach.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Mayor's Office and organizations including the Indy Chamber, OneZone Chamber, Indiana Chamber, and MIBOR.
• Build relationships with local businesses to identify opportunities, address concerns, and connect them with City resources.
• Organize business roundtables, stakeholder meetings, and site visits.
• Represent the Mayor's Office at business events, public meetings, and community functions.
• Track engagement efforts, manage follow-up communications, and prepare reports that measure program impact.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Communications, Political Science, Economic Development, or a related field.
• Two (2) or more years of experience in community engagement, economic development, government relations, business development, or a related field.
• Experience working with or in local government is preferred.
• Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
• Confidence speaking before business leaders, community partners, and public audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering outstanding customer service and representing the City with professionalism.
