Position Title Business Process Developer / AI Specialist - Information Technology Job Description

Position Summary:

This role partners with departments across campus to improve operational efficiency through

automation, system integration, and responsible use of artificial intelligence. This role identifies

opportunities to streamline business processes and designs scalable solutions that enhance service delivery and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with campus departments to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for automation and integration.
  • Design, develop, test (with end users), and deploy automated workflows and system integrations.
  • Build custom solutions that streamline operations and improve data flow across platforms.
  • Utilize approved AI tools to enhance daily business functions, improving efficiency, organization, and outcomes.
  • Evaluate and recommend when AI solutions are suitable versus when traditional approaches are more effective.
  • Provide documentation, training, and ongoing support to ensure successful adoption of implemented solutions.
  • Work closely with the IT Security team to ensure all solutions comply with institutional policies, data governance standards, and cybersecurity requirements.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical development skills with business process analysis

expertise and a practical understanding of AI applications. This role requires collaboration, critical

thinking, and a commitment to responsible and strategic technology implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field). Or, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree: Associate's degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in computer science equivalent to three additional years.
  • Three (3) years working with users in requirements gathering, developing, and implementing reports and developing documentation in enterprise application systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL working with relational databases.
  • Solid understanding of database and data warehouse concepts.
  • Proven leadership in a successful, customer-centric IT environment.
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with knowledge of computer applications for data analysis and report development.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, prioritize, schedule, and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in the use of troubleshooting and repair technology applications.
  • Ability to work in a team setting, collaborate, and communicate efficiently to enhance technology.
  • Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and associated certificates and accreditations related to Information Systems, customer service.
  • Experience working with an ERP platform in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with API development.
  • Experience with AI Agent development and business process automation tools.

Physical Demands

  • Some weekend and evening working hours required as needed.
  • Availability via cell phone during normal working hours is a requirement, after hours occasionally.
  • May be required to travel to various buildings on campus frequently.
