MFG (Manufacturing) Segment Controller - This is an ACCOUNTING job, NOT a Finance job
- LOCATED: North Atlanta, GA - You MUST relocate or live in the area
- Hybrid
Lead a High-Performing Accounting Organization. Shape Strategy. Drive Growth.
We are a highly respected, large manufacturer seeking an exceptional Segment Controller for one of our largest and fastest-growing business units.
This is far more than a traditional Controller position.
You'll serve as the accounting leader for a large business unit, partnering directly with executive leadership while leading a talented team responsible for multiple manufacturing facilities across the United States.
If you enjoy mentoring and developing people, influencing business decisions, improving operations, and serving as a true strategic business partner to your Unit's Finance Leader, not simply closing the books, this opportunity deserves a closer look.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Lead accounting for a large manufacturing unit
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team of 10 accounting professionals, including off-site Plant Controllers, and an in-house corporate accounting team
- Partner directly with an impressive unit CFO who was promoted internally
- Join an organization with an outstanding reputation for promoting from within
- Step into a well-run business with no accounting cleanup, backlogs, or operational fires
- Hybrid schedule (Monday-Thursday in office, Fridays remote)
- Limited travel (approximately 10%)
- Relocation assistance available
This is an opportunity to inherit a strong team, make an immediate impact, and continue building an already successful accounting organization.
What You'll Be Doing
As Business Unit Controller, you'll provide financial leadership across a multi-site manufacturing operation while partnering closely with executive leadership on strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading all divisional accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and planning activities
- Providing executive leadership with meaningful financial analysis and business insights
- Developing financial strategies that improve profitability and operational performance
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a talented accounting organization
- Partnering with Plant Controllers across multiple manufacturing facilities
- Building strong relationships with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, HR, IT, and Corporate Finance
- Driving continuous process improvements and strengthening financial controls
- Presenting financial results and recommendations to senior leadership
- Supporting strategic initiatives, capital investments, productivity improvements, and long-range planning
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves while also leading at a strategic level.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree
- CPA and/or MBA are a plus, but not a deal breaker
- 5+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience
- Manufacturing experience (anything tied to raw materials, plastics, pharma, or a liquid is a plus – but NOT required)
- Multi-site operational accounting experience
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and FP&A
- Strong ERP experience (Oracle experience is a plus, but not required)
- Demonstrated success in developing and mentoring accounting professionals
- Strong executive communication and presentation skills
- Ability to influence leaders across operations and finance
This is an excellent opportunity for either:
- An experienced Controller looking for a larger platform, or
- A high-performing Corporate Controller, Segment Controller, or Senior Accounting Leader ready for the next step.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $180,000 - $200,000
- Annual Bonus: 20%
- Comprehensive Benefits Package
- Retirement Plan with Company Match
- Relocation Assistance Available
- Hybrid Work Schedule
Why Apply?
Some Controller roles involve fixing broken organizations.
This isn't one of them.
You'll inherit a strong accounting team, partner with outstanding executive leadership, and have the opportunity to focus on what great accounting leaders enjoy most: developing people, improving the business, and helping shape the future of a major manufacturing division.
If you're looking for a highly visible leadership opportunity with significant executive exposure and long-term career growth, we'd love to speak with you.
