    Business Support Officer (Permanent)

    37 Hours per Week

    Monday to Thursday: 08.30am - 5.00pm

    Friday: 08.30am - 4.30pm

    Location: Ballard House, Plymouth

    We have an exciting opportunity to join the Business Support Team within Plymouth City Council's Children, Young People and Families Service. This is a rewarding role at the heart of a busy service, providing vital administrative support to professionals who work to improve outcomes for children, young people and families across the city.

    As a Business Support Officer, no two days are the same. You'll work with a wide range of people, including members of the public, social workers and other partner agencies, helping to ensure our services run smoothly and efficiently.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Providing a professional and welcoming front-of-house reception service.
    • Managing calendars and appointments.
    • Maintaining accurate electronic filing and record systems.
    • Answering and directing telephone enquiries.
    • Preparing and compiling document bundles.
    • Supporting a variety of administrative functions across the team.
    • Working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.

    Essential Requirements

    To be considered for this role, you must have:

    • GCSE Grade A*-C (9-4) or equivalent in Maths and English.
    • A willingness to undertake relevant learning and development as required.

    Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

    We would particularly welcome applications from candidates who have:

    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Business Administration.
    • Customer care qualification or training.
    • A basic understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience of working in a clerical or administrative environment.
    • Experience of working as part of a team.
