Business Systems Analyst
Location: Boston
Contract to Hire: 6+ Months
Hybrid: Yes, 3 days onsite
Interview: 1 video 1 in-person
Start: ASAP
The Systems Business Analyst provides strategic technical analysis to systems and business partners and also acts as a liaison between technical and business user groups. The focus of this position is to work closely with the technical peers, business units, and other supporting groups to gain in-depth understanding of the Fund Accounting processes, services, and program roadmaps.

The Systems Business Analyst is responsible for defining and documenting business systems requirements and ensuring technology solutions enhance and support the business operations. Identify technology alternatives and recommends system solutions to business and technical audiences. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from leading small to mid-size projects to assisting on larger more complex projects related to operational business functions that affect internal clients in both Waterfall and/or Agile Project Management approaches. The Senior Systems Business Analyst participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle from project scoping, planning and requirements definition to issues resolution, testing, training, and implementation.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop clear, concise methodology documents, which require proficiency in workflow analysis, dataflow diagramming, screen design, etc.
  • Review and assist in development of milestone dates, project workflows, milestone dates, as requested by Project Manager.
  • Facilitate the definition of functional requirements by working with programmers and users in prototyping and design sessions.
  • Translate system workflows into system configurations
  • Translate and present project concepts into effective visual images which clarify design elements and issues for both business and technical audiences.
  • Ensure methodology is followed for project; provide meaningful feedback in accordance with departmental standards and guidelines.
  • Identify, mediate, resolve and eliminate miscommunications between business and technical project team members.
  • Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers and others; driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team accountable for results
  • Stay current with business needs and strategies and manage relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project results
  • Facilitate Project Manager with ensuring project team and business participants are on track to hit applicable milestones.
  • Support and align efforts to meet business and Infrastructure needs
  • Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • Lead or participate in multiple projects by completing and updating project documentation; determining daily priorities; following proper escalation paths
  • Works to self-manage projects to budget/estimate and hit deadlines set forth by project leads/managers
  • Collaborate closely with developers to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process
  • Participate in development of test strategy, test plans and test cases alongside QA
  • Participate in test execution and document results
  • Utilize Jira and Confluence to organize, track, and update progress on projects throughout their entire life cycle.
  • Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)
  • Research and evaluate new technology solutions and present recommendations for improved system operations.
  • Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements
  • Support senior management reporting to track progress

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Financial Services experience, especially in Fund Accounting
  • Technical experience a huge plus as this role requires a strong partnership and constant coordination with development team to agree on timelines and scope of work
  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience documenting specifications, preferably at a financial services company.
  • Full understanding of the business model or the area(s) supported.
  • Very strong analytical skills required
  • Strong team skills required
  • Must have experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business
  • Strong time management, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills & communication skills
  • Exposure to project work, planning
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence is preferred
  • Experience with both Waterfall and Agile Projects is preferred
  • Scrum master experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle
  • Ability to create presentations using software such as Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Problem solving/analytical skills
