Role: Business Systems Analyst
Location: This is a HYBRID position requiring 2 in-office days at local Deloitte office per week. Travel costs are not reimbursable.
Duration: 6+ Months

Only W2.

As a Business Systems Analyst, you will act as a liaison between IS and divisional stakeholders to maintain, enhance, and integrate firm systems, data, and AI-enabled capabilities. You will proactively identify enterprise technology opportunities and/or serve on formal project teams to deliver new systems, data products, and AI solutions. Your role involves translating complex business needs into clear, testable specifications for data, engineering, and AI/ML teams.
Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of how enterprise systems, data platforms, and AI services interact—and how changes affect firm operations and initiatives.
Partner with stakeholders to define AI use cases and success measures; document current-state pain points and future-state workflows.
Elicit and translate requirements into actionable specifications (functional and non-functional), including data readiness, performance, availability, and auditability needs for AI-enabled features.
Map data structures and elements to business processes, ensuring accurate documentation of data lineage, definitions, usage, and access controls.
Create and maintain artifacts such as business process models, data flow diagrams, prototypes, business requirements, use cases/user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases.
Support AI solution design by documenting model inputs/outputs, decision points, human-in-the-loop steps, and integration patterns (e.g., APIs, event streaming, batch pipelines).
Partner with data and AI/ML teams on model lifecycle needs: training/validation data requirements, evaluation criteria, monitoring requirements (e.g., drift, performance), and operational handoffs.
Collaborate with risk, privacy, security, and compliance stakeholders to capture AI-related controls and governance requirements (e.g., data handling, model transparency/explainability expectations, escalation paths).
Analyze the lifecycle of financial transactions (e.g., checks, wires, ACH), tracking data generation, transformation, and consumption to support analytics and AI use cases.
Gain proficiency in data ingestion tools (e.g., Qlik Replicate) and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka) and help define requirements for reliable, scalable data movement.
Execute and present written and verbal business systems impact analyses that identify high-impact, systemic solutions.
Help reinforce Business Systems Analyst principles and practices across the team (standards, templates, requirement quality, and test readiness).

Role requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience designing and implementing functional systems and structured data processes.
Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Computer Science or MIS preferred (or equivalent work experience).
Experience translating requirements for data engineering, integrations, and/or analytics solutions.

What could set you apart

Proven experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst in data- and platform-intensive environments.
Experience supporting AI/ML-enabled products (or strong interest in learning), including model lifecycle considerations, evaluation, and monitoring.
Ability to design new business processes and data usage patterns that improve efficiency and control.
Ability to quickly grasp complex business processes and data relationships and turn them into clear, testable requirements.
Experience or willingness to learn data replication (Qlik Replicate) and streaming technologies (Kafka).
Strong skills in Microsoft Office to create working prototypes; ability to learn evolving reporting and analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau and other BI tools).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts (data, integrations, AI behavior/limitations) to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with financial transactions (e.g., ACH, wires, checks) is a plus.
