Information Technology (IT) implements, supports, and maintains all systems at Hawaii Pacific Health facilities. The department encompasses the people, records, and activities that process the data and information in the organization. The team provides support to users and acts as the key liaison between the business community and vendors. It also codes, defines criteria, performs testing and debugging, and maintains programs in order to meet the informational needs of Hawaii Pacific Healths numerous facilities and administrative offices.

Our EMR Inpatient team is responsible for support and maintenance of electronic medical records for inpatient hospitals.

Application Support Specialist

Under the general direction of the Manager of Information Systems Department or designee, provides application support to user departments. Acts as the key liaison between the Clinical community, vendors, and the IS Department. Responsible for Tier 2 support of applications. Translates customers high-level requirements into functional specifications for the IS Department and manages changes to such specifications. Uses a variety of platforms to provide automated systems and applications to customers. Responsible for gathering, compiling, and synthesizing information with regard to technology, processes, and/or systems. Codes, defines criteria, performs testing, debugging, documents, and maintains programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Health Care, or related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • One year of experience in functional analysis, system design, and/or business applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of health care experience and working with clinical users to determine their needs and manage the changes to those specifications, including troubleshooting systems issues and modifying applications.
  • Experience in supporting information systems.
  • Experience in analyzing workflow and implementing changes in workflow.
