Senior IT Business Process Consultant
Employee Lifecycle (JML) | IT Operations | Process Improvement
Hybrid in Indianapolis, IN
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior IT Business Process Consultant to lead process discovery and improvement initiatives focused on the employee lifecycle, specifically Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) processes.
This role sits at the intersection of IT, HR, Identity & Access Management, and business operations. You will serve as the bridge between hiring managers and technical delivery teams, translating business needs into standardized processes that improve onboarding, offboarding, access provisioning, and long-term automation.
Rather than implementing technology, you'll work directly with business leaders to understand how employees work, what technology they need, where current processes break down, and how those processes should evolve.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving ambiguous operational challenges, building relationships, gathering requirements, and driving process improvement across multiple technical teams.
What You'll Own
- Partner directly with hiring managers to understand how new employees work and what technology, applications, access, and equipment they require.
- Guide hiring managers through onboarding and offboarding activities while serving as their primary IT process advisor.
- Translate business conversations into clear technical requirements for Identity & Access Management, Service Desk, Application Administration, Security, and other technology teams.
- Document current-state employee lifecycle processes and identify opportunities for standardization.
- Build role-based technology personas that define the applications, permissions, hardware, and access required for specific job functions.
- Capture gaps, pain points, and improvement opportunities within existing onboarding and offboarding workflows.
- Maintain an Issues & Opportunities backlog and help prioritize initiatives that improve the employee lifecycle experience.
- Create process documentation, dependency maps, and implementation roadmaps that support future automation efforts.
- Coordinate across HR, IT, Security, Digital Workplace, and business stakeholders to ensure onboarding activities are completed successfully.
- Help transition highly manual onboarding processes into scalable, repeatable workflows supported by automation.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first six months you will help:
- Improve onboarding consistency across departments.
- Build standardized role-based provisioning models.
- Create reusable process documentation.
- Improve communication between business stakeholders and IT.
- Reduce manual provisioning work by identifying automation opportunities.
- Help establish the foundation for long-term JML automation.

- Strong business process mapping and requirements gathering experience.
- Experience working directly with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Ability to translate business needs into actionable technical requirements.
- Familiarity with Identity & Access Management concepts, including Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, security groups, and access provisioning.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 technologies including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Exchange.
- Experience documenting workflows, dependencies, process improvements, and project roadmaps.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
